Angelfall Review-Minor Spoilers

 

This book, wow. This book was so flipping good! I read the whole book in about eight hours, started at 7 pm and finished at 3 am. My review will reveal some minor spoilers, but I tried to steer away from revealing major plot lines.

How was the plot and characterization?

This book was essentially what I wished every book could do to me. It was emotionally satisfying. Angst, romance, drama, action, humor and more. It was packed with action interwoven with unraveling information of the angel world. Every event of the plot was unpredictable and kept me engaged. The pace of everything felt just right. There weren’t moments that felt too unnecessarily long nor short. 

The characterization of the two main characters was also just right. 🤌 Penwyn was fiercely loyal and protective of her family. She’s smart and calculating. She’s also a badass character who knows how to kick butt. I was internally cheering when she was fighting in the scenes. I just love reading a strong female heroine. Raffe was equally great. He’s witty, cocky, and flirtatious. And surprisingly, he’s softhearted. Without revealing spoilers, he does some really sweet things for Penwyn. I also was not expecting to have a crush on Raffe, but this guy had some flirtatious and funny lines that it was hard to not fall for him. Besides the two main leads, I also liked the side characters as well. 

How was the romance?

As I’m such a huge romance fan, of course, I have to evaluate the romance. I honestly loved the instant chemistry between Raffe and Penryn. My one critique was that I wanted a slower burn, but I liked the romance nonetheless.  I liked seeing them getting closer over time. The flirty banter between the two was so fun to read. I know there are two more books I have to go through, and I desperately hope these two are endgame. 

Wow, it’s so great. Any cons of the book?

Honestly, my only complaint was that I found out towards the end of the book that all the events took over a span of a couple of days. The beautiful romance that bloomed between Raffe and Penryn took only a couple of days? I know that romantic relationships can develop quickly, but I was just in shock at how short the timespan was. I wish the timespan had been longer. 

Overall Rating

This book deserves a 9/10. I feel like this book honestly might land in my mental list of top favorite books. It blew me out of the water.
